HUGO-The Oklahoma Forestry Association (OFA) recently held its Annual Banquet at the Kiamichi Technology Center in Hugo. Members and guests were treated to barbeque and a keynote speech by Greg Hay, regional manager for Crop Production Services. Mr. Hay’s speech centered on participating in the upcoming elections, supporting national initiatives of the Forest Landowners Association and becoming active in the political process to influence policies affecting landowners.
OFA Vice-President Corey Bouffleur presided over the festivities which included awards given to the Logger of the Year, Tree Farmer of the Year, an update on the Log-a-Load for Kids golf tournament and special recognition awards. Jeremy Burcham, Eagletown, was named Logger of the Year; David and Sharron Grantz, Plunkettville, received the Tree Farmer of the Year award and the golf tournament contributed almost $5,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network on behalf of OFA. Martin Fry, Hugo, and Jack Tucker, Idabel, were honored for their years of service to the association and the timber industry.
The Oklahoma Forestry Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the many values of healthy Oklahoma forests. Members encourage the use of high ethical standards, sound economic and environmental management and the wise, sustained use of all forest related resources for current and future generations.
