Oklahoma City – Citing this week’s precipitation and the advice of fire experts, Gov. Brad Henry today ended the state burn ban that had remained in effect in Cimarron and Texas counties in the Oklahoma Panhandle.
The governor’s office announced the decision today after reviewing precipitation totals and other fire data compiled by forestry officials in the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. The agency recommended the ban be lifted, citing the significant rainfall in recent days.
The burn ban had been in effect in the Panhandle counties since January.
