Statewide Discussion:

Any wildfire occurrence ahead of the frontal system today may pose problematic fire behavior prompted by shifting winds and thunderstorm outflow.  Hot and dry conditions have reduced live fuel moisture and dried down cured fuels in a large portion of the state.  Fine fuels have potential to exhibit running fire behavior and rapid rates of spread given gusty winds that may accompany the cold front moving through today.
The weak cold front will move into Oklahoma today bringing with it slightly reduced wildfire threat after it passes with higher humidity levels and a shift from light southerly winds to NNE winds. Gusty winds may accompany frontal passage. Precipitation chances appear to be diminishing with this front; however slight rain chances will carry throughout the day into this evening.

Remember…  ONLY YOU can prevent wildfires!  Enjoy Oklahoma’s wildlands responsibly.

Report any suspicious wildland fire activity on the Arson Tip Line:  1-866-662-7766 (1-866-NO ARSON).
