Statewide Discussion:
The eastern third of Oklahoma received a wetting rain yesterday that will stave off fire danger through the weekend. While some areas in the Panhandle and western Oklahoma did receive rainfall, amounts were somewhat negligible with regard to fuel moisture recovery

.Fire control issues are not anticipated today in western Oklahoma with cooler temperatures, but a north wind gusting to 20 mph combined with relative humidity falling into the low and mid-20% range in some western counties may promote opportunity for active fire behavior in fine fuels should a fire occur.

Afternoon relative humidity values over the weekend appear to be dipping into the low 30% range in the east and nearer 20% in the west which will promote accelerated drying of fine fuels. Cooler temperatures and moderated winds should mitigate fire control issues over the weekend

Remember… ONLY YOU can prevent wildfires! Enjoy Oklahoma’s wildlands responsibly.

Report any suspicious wildland fire activity on the Arson Tip Line: 1-866-662-7766 (1-866-NO ARSON).
