Statewide Discussion:

Showers and some storms delivered rainfall in several areas of western Oklahoma with rainfall amounts generally less than 0.10” outside of storms.  Herbaceous fuel moisture is slowly improving; however drought impacts remain evident.  The Quantitative Precipitation Forecast provides some promise of wetting rains nearly statewide this week.
Relative humidity below 20% is expected today in Cimarron County, but light winds will limit fire behavior in large part.  It should be noted that any fire that does become established may be influenced by potential storm development. Conditions are expected to moderate this evening as some opportunity for a thunder storm develops ushering in higher relative humidity values. Otherwise, no significant fire danger is expected today.
Opportunity for rainfall associated with thunder storms will be present through the week offering potential for more greening of fuels in western Oklahoma and reinforcing improving fuel moisture values elsewhere.  While storms in the forecast are expected to be wet, lightning activity should be monitored for initiation of new fire starts in the driest areas of western Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Panhandle.
The Oklahoma Wildfire Situation Report will continue to be updated weekly or as fire occurrence merits.
