Statewide Discussion: No reports of unusual fire activity or requests for State assistance outside of the Protection Area were received yesterday.
Fire danger today will be highest west of a rough line from Tillman County to Woods County. In and near this area this afternoon southerly winds from 10-15 mph with gusts near and above 20 mph are forecast. Winds are forecast to be the strongest in the far western portions of the Oklahoma Panhandle. Temperatures are forecast to rise into the upper 50 degree range. Relative humidity readings in the low to mid-20% range are expected. Any fire starting this afternoon in and near this area has the potential to burn very intensely at moderate to rapid rates of spread. Highest fire spread rates can be expected where winds and terrain align.
