The highest fire danger today will be seen in the following counties in south central Oklahoma: Cotton, Stephens, Carter, Love, Johnston, and Marshall. Over the last two weeks very little moisture has fallen over the majority of this area. This afternoon relative humidity readings are expected to be in the upper 30% range with sustained south to southwest winds at 15-25 mph with gusts near and above 30 mph. Temperatures are forecast to reach into the mid- to upper 90s. In and near this area where rainfall has been sparse expect any fire that starts to burn intensely with moderate to rapid rates of spread.
SPECIAL NOTE TO THE PUBLIC: A Governor’s Burn Ban remains in effect for a large part of Oklahoma. For more Information click on the following link: http://www.forestry.ok.gov/burn-ban-information
