PROTECTION AREA STATISTICS* for Time Period 0800 thru 0800, 01/30/12 thru 01/31/12       

NE Area – 3 fires burned 198 acres (Causes: 2-Incendiary; 2-Escaped Debris Burn)

EC Area – 0 fires

SE Area – 0 fires

One large fire occurred in the Protection Area yesterday:

Ozark Plateau (Adair County) – One unit from the Forestry Services’ Northeast Area equipped with one Type 3 Dozer and one Type 6 Engine with firefighters from the Cherokee Nation controlled this incendiary-caused wildfire that burned 160 acres eight miles southeast of Stilwell.

Statewide Discussion:   No reports of unusual fire activity or requests for State assistance were received during the reporting period.  A weak cold front will be pushing into the state today and will stall.  Some precipitation is possible east of the front today.  At the time of this report, some light precipitation is occurring in eastern Oklahoma.


The highest fire danger today will exist west of a line from Woods County to Roger Mills County.  Relative humidity in this area is expected to drop into the 20-25% range with north-northeast winds sustained at 10-15 mph with gusts near 25 mph.  Temperatures are expected in the mid-50s to mid-60s range.
