FIRE DEPARTMENT STATISTICS** FROM www.firereporting.ok.gov for Time Period 01/22/14 thru 01/23/14
No wildfires recorded yesterday.
** - These statistics are from Fire Departments that have reported their information on the Oklahoma Forestry Services web-based Fire Reporting System. Totals do not reflect the total acres burned or total number of fires that have occurred in Oklahoma.
Statewide Discussion: No reports of unusual fire activity or requests for State assistance were received yesterday. Humidity recovery in fine fuels was poor to moderate overnight across the majority of Oklahoma. This will allow fire ignitions during the morning hours.
The highest fire danger this afternoon will exist roughly south of a line from Delaware County to Tillman County. In and near this area wind speeds are forecast to the sustained from the north-northeast at 10-15 mph with gusts above 20 mph. The relative humidity is expected drop into the low 20% range. Temperature will be a limiting factor for fire behavior today, with high temperature this afternoon forecast to only reach into the 20-30 degree range. Winds are forecast to quickly diminish after sunset. Where winds and terrain align, any fire today has the potential to burn with moderate to rapid rates of spread.
Numerous counties are under a County Commissioner’s Burn Ban. For information concerning burn bans click on the following link:
