Statewide Discussion: Dry conditions today with some areas of the state tapping moderate fire danger indices. Initial attack efforts on new fires are expected to be fully successful although recent precipitation will complicate engine and equipment access due to soft/saturated soil in many areas. Mixed precipitation chances spread over Oklahoma beginning Tuesday into Thursday dampening fire danger concerns. Potential for wetting amounts are possible across much of the state favoring central and eastern Oklahoma. Given the current forecast information, no concerning fire danger is expected through the week.

Today: A cold start and good overnight moisture recovery will stall development of receptive fuels until the afternoon hours. Fine-dead fuel moisture values are not expected to dip below 7% saving some sites in the Oklahoma Panhandle where 6% observations are possible. Light and variable winds this morning becoming light southerly this afternoon will limit fire spread potential with suppressed fire behavior offering very good opportunity for successful initial attack.

Precipitation chances enter the forecast Tuesday continuing into Thursday suppressing fire danger concerns through the week. Warmer/drier conditions begin Friday although fire danger is expected to remain moderated. The next update to the Oklahoma Wildfire Situation Report is scheduled to be issued Monday, January 27, 2020 unless fire danger or fire occurrence merits otherwise.
