Statewide Discussion:

Moderate fire danger today across much of Oklahoma today waning with increasing low level moisture and a forecast that holds promise of wetting rains statewide, or nearly so. No significant wildfire activity is expected through the week.

Fire danger today, will be limited by relative humidity values well above 30% at most locations although the western two-thirds of the Panhandle will see a brief period this afternoon where observations of 20-25% are possible. Nonetheless, fine-dead fuel moisture values of possibly 6% in the Panhandle with the bulk of the state observing 8-10%. Initial attack actions are expected to be successful although south winds this afternoon in the dry, western counties sustained 15-20 mph with some gusts near 30 mph may produce moderate rates of fire spread on established fires.

Increasing atmospheric moisture on Tuesday will limit overall fuel availability suppressing fire danger in large part. Rain chances Tuesday evening expanding into Wednesday are poised to provide a solid wetting rain. Fire danger through the remainder of the week is not expected to present significant challenges.
