Statewide Discussion:
A cold front moving from north to south through Oklahoma today will usher in precipitation chances and falling temperatures limiting fire danger today and into the weekend. Fire danger today will be further limited by sky cover and elevated relative humidity values; however strong winds this afternoon may prove challenging in southwest Oklahoma should any fire become established ahead of the potential precipitation in western counties.
A warming and drying trend is forecast to initiate Sunday developing into mid-week. A careful analysis of fire danger potential will be completed Monday assessing precipitation totals and the effect on fuels. Given good potential for relaxed fire danger over the next two days, the next update to the Oklahoma Wildfire Situation Report will be issued on Monday, April 9, 2018.
