Statewide Discussion:

High fire danger will persist across the Oklahoma Panhandle, northwest Oklahoma and along the western tier of counties with dry air and warm temperatures while moderated fire danger is expected in central and eastern regions.  A big change will come Friday as a cold front moves from north to south across the state driving temperatures down and presenting opportunity for precipitation.
Today, the highest fire danger will be present along and west of a line from Alfalfa County south to Jackson County.  Relative humidity values this afternoon of 12% in the Panhandle to 30% in southwest Oklahoma will facilitate very receptive fuels as fine-dead fuel moisture values of 6% (some 5% observations likely) develop this afternoon.

Temperatures will warm into the 70°’s with winds southerly this afternoon 12-20 mph gusting to 25 mph encouraging moderate to rapid rates of fire spread in grass-dominated fuels.
Ongoing green up in eastern and central Oklahoma will likely stall with cold temperatures on the backside of the cold front; however rain and potential for some mixed precipitation will continue to stave off fire danger.
