Statewide Discussion:

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR WESTERN TWO THIRDS OF THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RH VALUES...

The freeze warning was expanded southward to include areas that are near and below freezing this morning. Elevated fire weather conditions will be possible late this afternoon across northwest Oklahoma as drier and warmer air combines with the gusty south winds. The window for these elevated conditions will be brief. The strong northerly winds on Tuesday will keep fire weather conditions elevated to critical over western Oklahoma.

Northwest / Oklahoma Panhandle: PCldy, 82o, Min RH 9%, winds SW@15G23

Critical fire weather conditions will develop late this morning and continue into early this evening across western and central sections of the Oklahoma Panhandle due to strong southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts along with forecast minimum relative humidity values of 8 to 12 percent. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for this area from 11 AM this morning until 9 PM CDT this evening. Elevated fire weather conditions are also expected this afternoon into early this evening across the eastern Oklahoma Panhandle.

Northern / Western Oklahoma: PCldy, 75o, Min RH 27%, winds S9G22

Elevated fire weather conditions are expected over far western Oklahoma for a brief time this afternoon as clearing skies and cold air erosion occurs. There will be gusty south winds that will continue into the night.

Central / Eastern Oklahoma: Cloudy, 52o, Min RH 85%, winds LGT/VAR

A cold and damp airmass will slowly modify today and tonight. A strong cold front will move across the area Tuesday, with gusty northwest winds following in its wake.
