Wildland Fire

Oklahoma Forestry Services is Oklahoma's lead agency
related to wildland fire prevention, protection and use.

• conducts initial attack fire suppression on more than six million acres of forests and grasslands
• provides suppression assistance to emergency managers and fire departments outside of our initial attack protection area.
• provides leadership and command for emergency incidents
• builds local fire suppression capacity through our Rural Fire Defense Program which provides assistance to communities by providing training, equipment, vehicles and grants
• assists landowners with forest management which includes planning and conducting prescribed fires on their lands
• assists communities in the development of Community Wildfire Protection Plans.
• conducts fire prevention activities including displays at public events, school programs, and Smokey Bear visits.
